different feeling and depth to having your friends, who have been
with you through everything, bring the songs to a different level
sonically and emotionally. I love expression through music and
this project feels good.”
To continue to promote the record, Forest City Lovers will hit
the road in Ontario and Quebec, frequenting the usual haunts in
the tri-city area, Toronto and the Golden Horseshoe. While more
ambitious touring is on the way, the project remains tied to not
only Burns’ busy schedule, but that of her band that alters slightly
if one member is off with another project. In addition, Burns
employs a strictly grassroots and independent ethos to all of this,
making her own artwork and posters, booking tours in-house
and keeping the operation as compact as possible. “I love visual
aesthetics as much as sound aesthetics,” adds Burns. “I feel like it
just compliments musical projects. I enjoy creating merchandise
and the artwork for our albums, posters, etc. It satisfies another
aspect of my creativity that balances me out a little bit. We also
like to work with other creative people and friends that do our
photos, video work and online stuff. We all like artsy things and
so the whole band is keen to have a DIY and creative approach to
our visual marketing.” Email Story Print Story
